55991 KHOTAN

Beginning from East Turkestan, a hub along the silk route, the Khotan rug is an aggregate of several cultures and decorative influences including Turkey, India, Tibet, China and Iran. Designs tend to be geometric with abstract drawings, utilizing a palette of rich colors like red or rust or pastels, with dyes produced from local plants. Usually woven on a cotton foundation, these cosmopolitan rugs can have several stylistic influences and patterns including medallions, discs, flowers, diamonds and/or stripes.
