Named after a small village, Nains are woven by skilled artisans and thus known for their exquisite appeal due to their use of silk in the foundation and in the pile of many rugs. Usually woven with a central medallion design, the knot count is high starting at 800 knots per square inch. The pile is most often made with soft wool making a distinctive use of ivory silk to outline the various forms of the design.
